– what we're cooking for Thanksgiving, some activities to do with your kids over break, holiday decor and gift guides, discount codes and more.
Hi! Happy Thanksgiving week!
We are in Kansas. My parents have a ranch here and we flew in on Friday (Dave drove 17 hours with our dog, Bear). We will be here until next Sunday. It is the coziest home in the middle of the woods just outside Manhattan, Kansas. We cook, we lounge, we watch movies, we go on hikes and sit by the fire. I am so happy to be here with my family.
Speaking of this week, and being heavy into family time, I am always coming up with ideas to keep the kids busy and off screens. My mom and I are big crafters when we are together and we were thinking about cute ideas that the kids would enjoy. We’ve already made some ornaments (pictured and linked below!) and have big plans for some Thanksgiving Day place cards. I shared five fun activities to do with your kids this week if you scroll down.
Other than that, did you hear it is Black Friday week?! Remember when it was just a day, ha! The good old days. There are some incredible sales happening this week that I’ll be sharing on Instagram. I’ll also pop in with a pre-Thanksgiving Substack post on Wednesday so if you’re not an Instagram girlie (I’m jealous), then don’t worry because I’ll be sharing here, too. Plus, don’t forget there is a ton of goodness waiting for you on helloadamsfamily.com.
OK, important question! What is your favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal? I’m a sides girl. We usually keep it semi simple since there aren’t too many of us at the table but this year I’m excited to make Ambitious Kitchen’s fresh Green Bean Casserole and Joanna Gaines’ Southern Sweet Potato Casserole. We also have plans to make Halfbaked Harvest’s Salted Honey Butter Parker House Rolls and my mom and I want to attempt a pecan pie but in a gingersnap crust. We are combining a couple recipes but I think, if it is a success, it could be great for Christmas, too. Stay tuned!
