The Sunday Scoop - January 19, 2025
the flu has run through our house and I am down and out! Here are some fun things from the week.
Sick in bed but at least I have these cute pajamas.
Well, we were hit with the flu this weekend. Charlie was home from school on Friday and I stared to feel a little sick last night. I woke up completely down for the count and have been in bed all day. I feel like the flu is everywhere right now! I had George in my bed last night so the cycle continues and I am sure he will drop next. The anticipation of illness as a parent is never-ending.
I feel like most of the country is getting a deep freeze this week but they are anticipating 5-8 inches of snow/ice possible for Charleston! Which is a big deal because we never get snow here. I will be so excited to have snow (and my kids will be thrilled, too!) but the problem is Charleston does not know what to do with ice/snow. We don’t have salt trucks or de-icer and that means that Charleston usually shuts down. So I’m anticipating a lot of shutdown this week.
You know what I appreciate. The reminder that life takes precedence. I am constantly dreaming and scheming and making plans and getting ahead of myself and it’s like life always tell me to slow my roll. Whether that is getting sick or bad weather, I’m always reminded not to get so ahead of myself.
I made the most delicious homemade chicken soup last week and I don’t have the exact recipe (it was sort of a combo of a few different soups) but I feel like we all need a cozy soup this week. Here are some of my favorite chicken soup recipes!
Easy Lemon Chicken Soup (if you haven’t added lemon to your chicken soup, you’re missing out)
Lemony Pesto Chicken Noodle Soup
Molly Baz’s Healing Chicken Soup
…and another recipe you must try is my Turkey Sausage, Spinach and White Bean Soup. The flavors are so cozy! It is one of my most popular recipes ever.
Let us know in the comments if you have any must make recipes when it is chilly outside!
This was a tough exercise but I rounded up my top 6 beauty buys from 2024. I have been very regimented with my skincare in the past 2 months. You know that friend that always has the glowiest skin that you can’t look away from? Well I stalked my girlfriend about her skin and the one thing she doubled down on was her Vitamin C morning and night. I have always used Skinceuticals C E Ferulic (which is my favorite serum ever) and I can attest that if you use it consistently your skin is so much more even and bright! It is kind of expensive but my girlfriend did told me that the Drunk Elephants Vitamin C is a very similar formula and a better price. So I ordered that and use it in the morning and save the C E Ferulic for night. I think that has helped the texture and brightness of my skin!
It is the last day to get an extra 25% off Shopbop’s Sale items with code EXTRA25! I created a collage of my favorites included in the sale right here.
And a reminder that I’m always updating my Shopbop Hearts. This collection is pretty!
