The best holiday cookies ever, the eye cream we all need, some fun gift ideas, a recipe I'm cooking this week and thoughts on leaning in.
I feel like this photo is a perfect representation of where my mind and body is this month. Just floating along, having fun, constantly on-the-go, surviving, not quite thriving but thriving! Embracing is a better term. I’ve been trying to get out of my own way this week. My calendar is completely overwhelming and instead of wanting to cancel every plan and hide, I literally told myself “WHAT FUN!” Too much fun in all the best ways.
Can we talk about the elf on the shelf because it is December 8th and I have forgotten about him every night except for two. Every morning my kids come downstairs and say disappointedly, “Chip didn’t move again last night!” And I used to feel but I’m just like “falalalalalalala.” It’s fine, we’re doing great!
Have you watched the new Lindsay Lohan movie, Our Little Secret, on Netflix? It is so good! I mean not so good but so cute and entertaining and I’m just so happy for her and her comeback. You know what I would love for myself today? A clean house, all the laundry put away and a marathon of cheesy Netflix Christmas movies. I’ve really been on a roll with them lately. A few favorites: The Noel Diary, Meet Me Next Christmas, Christmas Island, Falling for Christmas and now Our Little Secret. I’ve also watched Hot Frosty and The Merry Gentleman, both hilariously terrible. Maybe worth it to watch for a Christmas chuckle?
Our citrus trees popped over Thanksgiving and it is really adding to our holiday decor! I just really love Christmas in Charleston.
I talked this week about my eyelids which have really just lost all of their energy lately. Like heavyyyyy saggy lids. We had quite the conversations about it on Instagram. Long story short, there is no magic eye cream that can fully fix the issue (mine is genetics and maybe having 3 wild boys?) but the biggest thing was finding a good retinol that is safe for the delicate eye area. Anyways, this Avene Retrinal Eye Cream came highly recommended from our community and dermatologists! Saggy eyelids be damned. I would just love to wake up and look awake. Sadly I think that phase of my life has passed. Hoping this cream perks up my eyes!
The best holiday cookie recipe ever. If you’re looking for a cookie that will literally blow your holiday socks off, this is it. Not your basic holiday cookie and you sort of have to trust the process when making them but they are so so delicious!
We have 5 gift guides up on helladamsfamily.com, the final one being 50 gifts under $50. There is something for everyone on this list! I have bought 2 gifts and need to buckle down. I’m determined to pop into my favorite local stores this week to stock up! If you’re still looking for ideas, check out my other gift guides:

Our holiday tech backgrounds are live on helloadamsfamily.com! I love making these every month and especially love them around the holidays. A fun way to dress up your devices for the holidays! You can find all of them right here (for desktop and phone!).
I shared a big post all about the art in our home and where I love to shop and discover art! The Charleston Artist Collective has been an incredible resource for me and I love that you can shop everyone on their site. I think gifting art is such a thoughtful gift idea! I love buying pieces that remind me of the recipient. Shop their Charleston studio here and their Palm Beach studio here.
Sometimes when I feel like I’m in a rut with cooking I go through my own recipe archives to get inspired. I love when I know it is a recipe I’ve already made and forgotten about. I thought I’d share some recipes I printed out to make this week:
Crockpot Italian Chicken + Chickpeas (this is great to have as leftovers all week, make on Monday)
Have a great week!!
