A holiday monster bark recipe, what I bought Dave for Christmas and a very boujee Christmas wishlist.
These boys and their excitement for Santa (we missed Charlie, he was at his football game!). This is the first year that George is really enamored by Santa and it’s so cute. He kept staring at him very intensely and saying “ho ho ho!”
10 days until Christmas! I was telling a friend yesterday that I actually feel like I have some space to breathe between now and Christmas. A whole week left of school! A lot can get done in 5 days. I have made some progress on holiday shopping and I’m feeling pretty good. Now that Charlie and Jack are 9 and 7, they aren’t really interested in toys anymore. Everything is sports related which makes shopping for them a bit easier (and makes me happy because it doesn’t feel like so much stuff). My boys are really into wearing leggings under shorts so I bought them a few pairs of these. Boys are simple but just not as fun to shop for. George is getting a trampoline and a Tonies box. If you need some other kids gift ideas, check out my gift guide for kids here.
I’m driving to Charlotte this morning for my sister’s baby shower. She is having a girl! She has two boys so this is the first granddaughter for our family. So exciting! I have been spoiling her. Look at these sweet little bow pajamas?! My mom and my brother’s fiancé flew in from Chicago and I can’t wait to hang with them tonight. I’ll drive home tomorrow which feels like a fun way to start the week!
Things are slowing down over here work wise. It feels good to get to the end of the year and especially, this busy Q4. November is usually my biggest month of the year and December is always a bit slower. I filmed my final brand previews on Friday and it feels like smooth sailing into the new year! I always take 2 weeks off around the holidays, delete Instagram, don’t post on my blog. Dare I say I am counting down the days? It feels so good to check in with my family without worrying about sharing every/any moment. What a year! I’ll have more to share this week. We have some exciting things coming up next year, especially for Substack, that I can’t wait to share with you! I know a lot of my subscribers don’t necessarily view my posts in the app (most get these delivered straight to your inbox, which is great!) but I’ve really enjoy the community here on Substack the past few months. It’s been a really fun transition and I love that you can see all my posts in one place.
Anyways, thanks for always sticking with me as things change in this space. I sometimes feel like an old-dog-who-is-trying-to-learn-new-tricks-but-struggles-to-find-new-routine (ha) and I appreciate you keeping up with me through the trials and errors.
This week I shared this delicious holiday monster bark recipe. It’s the best when you don’t want to commit to baking cookies. I divided it up into little cups for a cookie exchange.
I shared my slightly boujee holiday wishlist filled with items that I definitely will not be receiving under the tree (but a girl can dream!). Although, it is filled with items that are possible! Dream big ladies, dream big.
Speaking of gif tables - Cuyana has the cutest little leather goods that would make great gift ideas for any ladies on your list. I shared a little collection of favorites here. But how cute is this little cherry change purse? Also big enough for AirPods! Would make a cute stocking stuffer for women/girls.
I plan to cook and bake my way through holiday break. If you need some good baking ideas - here is a fun list of cookie recipes!
If you’ve followed me for a while you know that I love to cook. Sadly, this season has been really quiet on the cooking front. I have relied on simple and quick meals (protein, vegetable, boring) instead of my more detailed recipes. However, if you’re in need of something simple and quick I highly recommend these crockpot chicken gyros. I made them last week and was reminded how much I love a crockpot recipe. I can’t wait to make my turkey sausage soup this week. It is a community favorite!
I discovered a new-to-me men’s shop this year - Huckberry. I ordered Dave and my brother-in-law this cute popover (he loves a layer). They have really handsome stuff! I have a gift guide for men with even more gift ideas right here.
Anyways, I hope you have a great Sunday! I’ll catch up with you this week. xx
