I think this is my favorite summer coverup. I’m wearing a small.
Hi! One week into summer vacation and I have some thoughts.
I saw someone refer to the first couple weeks of summer as blur weeks and I claimed it, too. We stayed up too late, were a little too flexible on screen time, we ate out too much and routine went out the window. For the majority of the week I felt good about it! I leaned in knowing that the celebration was needed. By Friday I felt a little panicked. Sort of like the walls were closing in and I couldn’t envision the windows I needed to survive summer.
Dave and I had a little chat yesterday and I mentioned these three things that I need every day in order to have a clear mind (and successful dedication to my kids!) -
an hour a day to sweat
an hour a day to clean
an hour a day to be in silence
I hate to admit that stupid shit stresses me out. I put the dumbest items on my to-do list ahead of the things that actually need to be done. I think it is a control thing. As I’m typing this on our couch I notice that we really need to take a de-piller to the cushions. Then I’m reminded that the boys drawers need to be thinned out and I still need to file their school work away. These items consume my mind over work tasks and having fun with my family. Which is why an hour to clean is important for my sanity and summer capabilities. I think acknowledging this is a huge help for me because in years past I’ll let things accumulate until it feels like too much. I want to feel light this summer! Keeping a well organized home is part of that.
We had Dave’s family in town and spent the whole weekend enjoying Charleston! We went to the beach, rented a boat, swan in the pool, golf carted around our neighborhood and saw some friends. I have to say that this week was the most fun kick start to summer. Our kids THRIVED outdoors! It was the best.
Here is what you may have missed this week…
I completely forgot about the demand for snacks during the summer. Not only am I feeding my children but also any other child that floats through our doors (which is usually a lot). I always try to have some sort of energy bites for a yummy protein treat on hand. This is one of our favorite combinations! Peanut butter and jelly protein bites that are packed with fiber and protein. Get the recipe here.

Things you need to know:
I ordered Problematic Summer Romance as my first read of the summer (my goal is to read one book a month!). Beach Reads and Bubbly is a new favorite, Katie is the cutest!!!! I love to read but usually opt for peace and quiet when I can BUT if I was to read more often, Katie’s recs are right up my alley. She gave this book 5/5 stars so you know it is good!
Every week we put together a shopping collection of most loved items around the internets. We’ve already started with new arrivals including this gorgeous gingham dress, this $60 tote bag (in my cart!), this gorgeous crochet top and this dreamy palm print set.
If you live in flip flops in the summer but also need support, these are the most comfortable flip flops ever.
This Quince skirt looks just like my Doen skirt that I’ve had for a couple of years (can’t believe the price!!). Plus, the nap dress for less!!
I just got this cute dress for summer and can’t wait to wear her non-stop. The pockets are so fun!
Liz! I am so flattered to be included in your newsletter. I have two specific book recs for you!
1. Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan, it was my favorite romance of 2022 and I love it because it's about a divorced mom with kids. It's funny, it's sexy, I think it will be right up your alley!
2. Anything by Elin Hildenbrand, it's the perfect summer escape! My favorite is 28 Summers!
