Sunday Notes, no. 3
A little of preview of something launching soon :)
The last day of August and I sort of can’t believe it! August into September always feels like a big turn of the clock. I’m ready! My mind feels ready. A refresh in all areas. We are taking our kids out on a boat today with a bunch of friends. We are members of a boat club here in Charleston and a few families are meeting at an island today. I never fully grasped the qualities of life that would accompany us in Charleston. If you’re new here, we moved from Chicago to Charleston 4.5 years ago. You can read more about our move here and here. I had some girlfriends over on Friday night and there was a moment where we were all sitting in a circle and I thought to myself, “how crazy that I didn’t know these people 4.5 years ago?” That life changes and shifts and you are introduced to new circles of people. Moving to a new place has really opened my eyes to being open to new experiences, trusting the universe to put the right people in front of you and welcoming new beginnings.
I’m trying to catch up on The Summer I Turned Pretty and I can’t decide if I should keep going or not?! I am only on episode 3 of season 3 and every sneak peek on social media is telling me how cringy it is. Jeremiah pains me. I will most likely see it through because I appreciate some cheesy cringe. Speaking of cheesy, I am leaning into more mindless indulgences. There was a period of time where I had a stack of self help books piled on my nightstand. Business focused, wellness advice, mental shifts, parenting support all recommended from trusted friends which made me feel even more obligated to read them. But this summer I decided to lean into what I actually wanted to read and it’s been so fun! I read all of these, 28 Summers and this weekend I just finished Deep End (which is a little 50 Shade of Grey so beware!). My friend Kate just released her book, I Just Wish I Had A Bigger Kitchen which is next on my list and I can’t wait to dive in!
With fall comes an urge to take on some house projects! When we bought our house we painted every wall and kitchen cabinet and stained the floors. We wallpapered a few rooms, have done some big renovations (added a full bedroom/bath and re-did our primary bedroom and bath) and I’m getting an itch to make some decor changes. There are two rooms that could use a little love - our primary bedroom which still has most of our furniture from Chicago and our family room. I am dying to paint our family room and tile our fireplace. I have to get Dave on board but I asked ChatGPT to update the room for me. Here is what it looks like now:
I want to use Farrow & Ball’s Dead Salmon (hilarious name, I also love Setting Plaster but worried it is too pink) and possibly cut it to 50%. We worked with Lennon & Flohr for the first phase of our house and I told them I also wanted to remove the trim around the fireplace and re-tile it. They sent over these two samples and I’m loving the warmer contrast tile:
ChatGPT added Dead Salmon to the walls (obviously we are going to physically sample this on the walls) and I added this tile to the fireplace in Canva. Anyways, I’m into these vibes! I’ll keep you posted on what we decide once I grab samples.
We rounded up a ton of fun fall finds under $200 this week! I just got this sweater in the mail and I’m so excited to wear it with a suede skirt and boots.
In case you missed it…
Labor Day Sales are goooood this year! I broke down my purchases and best buys here. Including my favorite coffee mug, the best face primer ever, my favorite jeans, a bath soak that will change your life and the best ballet flats.
NEW SHOPBOP HEARTS. I update these daily and am getting so excited for new fall arrivals. A great way to see what I’m eyeing and saving and buying.
Happy Labor Day weekend! Hope you’re squeezing the most our of the rest of summer. xoxo
