My Wellness Mindset for a Well Balanced Summer
And why I'm sick of the all or nothing mentality.
Hi from Wisconsin! We are here for 5 weeks with my family and it is truly my most favorite time of the year. There is something about being away from the mental load we put on ourselves at home - to constantly clean, organize, tidy, reset, etc. Stepping away from your bubble is a gift and it is something I truly cherish every year. My boys are getting older and I know that this escape won’t always be an option for us so I’m really trying to lean in.
Speaking of leaning in, my wellness routine makes a big shift in the summer months. To begin, I don’t put so much pressure on myself. If you’re a mom you know how hard it is to fit in a workout when you’re at home with your kids. These 5 weeks away consists of a lot of family time (which I love!) and very little time to myself. I rely heavily on at-home workouts with limited equipment and my cardio is hilly walks in the country. I am always so grateful for my Sculpt Society membership (25LIZ should still get you 25% off the first 2 months after the 7 day free trial) because it works those small muscles that I can never target on my own and I love Heather Robertson’s weighted workouts on Youtube (they are free!).
My summer also consists of a lot of wine, a lot of cheese, a lot of morning mimosas and beers in the lake. Social media can make me feel ashamed to lean in to our lake life mindset - where making delicious meals with a glass of wine is a nightly occurrence. Clearly balance is key to living a healthy lifestyle but it’s also okay to admit that I’ll probably come home 5lbs heavier and way less stressed. A simple reminder that we are adults who are capable of listening to our own needs and leaning in to joy.
